“A hobby a day keeps the doldrums away” – Phyllis McGinley
In my first post I mentioned my mental and physical disabilities and how volunteering has helped to keep my head above water. I have found that keeping occupied is also helpful and one of my interests has become collecting character dolls. I’ve always really enjoyed watching the films of Disney and Pixar. The impressive animation; unique loveable characters; catchy music and there’s always a happy ending! Because I love these movies so much, I like to take a piece of them home with me to remind myself of the escapism they offer.
I am going to insert a few pictures below of my character doll collection thus far, I hope you enjoy them.
Merida (Brave)
I received Merida as a present from my grandma for my birthday in 2017.
Boo (Monsters Inc)
I bought Boo a while ago, I love her so much she’s so cute and I like her bunches too.
Pocahontas
I received Pocahontas as a present for passing an exam that I took in 2017.
Lilo ( Lilo and Stitch)
Lilo was the first animator doll that I bought, she’s really pretty and looks exactly like Lilo from the film.
Mulan
I love Mulan and the fact she comes with a little Mushu figurine
Ariel (the little Mermaid )
l love Ariel’s wedding gown and her hair, I got her in 2017 after seeing the film for the first time.
Flynn Rider and Rapunzel ( Tangled)
I received Rapunzel when Tangled was released in 2010, and I got Flynn a while ago to go with her.
Moana
I got Moana in 2016 after I saw the film. She is one of my favourites because I like her hair and her outfit and think that the doll looks very much like Moana does in the film. I was a little disappointed that she didn’t have a figurine of Pua or Hei Hei.
Cinderella
I Bought Cinderella in 2017, she is one of my favourite princesses and I enjoyed watching the film when I was little and still love it . I love her dress and hair, she is pictured with a little figurine of Gus.
I really enjoyed organising the photoshoot- 😂 I know that some collectors keep these items in their original boxes but I, however, enjoy arranging them on my bedroom shelves and altering them around occasionally.
I will be updating this page from time to time so be sure to check back for any new additions to the doll family.
Doll update 2018-19
Rapunzel in her wedding gown (Tangled and Tangled ever after short)
I received this Rapunzel doll as a birthday gift in 2018 from my parents. I didn’t expect to see her on my shopping trip. I love this doll because she has brown hair like me and a similar hairstyle too.
Violet ( Incredibles 2)
I bought this doll to celebrate the release of the second incredibles film and because as a child I owned a Violet action figure that time and time again kept falling apart resulting in dissappointment. The incredibles played a huge part in my childhood and that is why Violet is one of my favourites and a prized doll in my collection.
Anna and Elsa (Frozen)
I gave the Elsa doll a new home after I bought her from a charity shop, as you may notice she doesn’t have her original outfit on, I decided to customise her with a new blue dress and matching shoes. I Bought the Anna doll from the disney store in 2019 along with two other dolls as a treat for doing well in my weight loss journey. I love these dolls, Anna has a very pretty face and i’m so happy with how Elsa looks in her dress and shoes.
Tinkerbell (Peter Pan)
My mum bought me this Tinkerbell doll as I watched again after a long time and very much enjoyed reading the book by J.M Barrie. This doll is second hand, I chose her because she is a smaller doll and because she depics the character very well.
Joy (Inside Out)
I bought this doll in February 2018. Joy was one of the dolls that I particularly liked the look of and wanted in my collection because I love Pixar’s Inside Out it’s a very special film to me as it helped me understand my own emotions and mental health issues. I had seen Joy on sale in the disney store but unfortunely by the time I was able to buy her she was no longer available there. I love the fact she talks ,however, she doesn’t have many phrases. Joy is so pretty and I like her dress, face and hair in particular.
Aurora (Sleeping beauty)
I Bought this doll in 2018 after watching sleeping beauty for the first time in ages with a friend. I love Aurora she is so pretty, her dress and hair are beautiful.
Snow White (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs)
I received this doll as a present for doing well in my weightloss journey. I Love Snow’s face she is very pretty. I love her so much, her dress is beautiful.
Tiana (Princess and the frog)

I bought this doll from the Disney store along with Anna from frozen and Belle from beauty and the beast. As you can see I haven’t unbox Tiana yet i’m going to unbox her at a later date along with Belle. When I first saw the Tiana dolls a long time ago I wasn’t overly keen but I really like this version of her in the green dress. I am also going to get a Naveen to go with her in the future.
Belle (Beauty and the Beast 1991)

This is the final doll in a Disney store haul. I love this version of Belle from the hand drawn animated Beauty and the beast along with the film itself. I Love Belle’s hair, dress and how pretty her face is.
I hope you enjoy looking at my dolls from the end of 2018 into 2019.
