I thought I’d share a little of my home life with you all. As some of you may know I live with my Grandma and she rents out her spare bedrooms to cast and crew at our local theatre….. the story started 2 years ago when Lauren, a dancer and Lula, a singer, came to stay. They were starring in That’s Entertainment along with the Overtones. I really enjoyed the show. Lauren was a wonderful dancer and when Lula sang Rockabye she brought the house down. The Overtones were great and I was so sad at the death of Timmy Matley, their lead singer.

In December that same year Ceri Dupree came and starred as Dolly Diamond in the Pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with Joe Pasquale The dynamics between them was so funny, there was a scene where Ceri said “I can’t work like this” when their lines went wrong. I also enjoyed it when they sung a comical version of the 12 days of Christmas as before we left to see the show we were watching Creature Comforts sing it on TV. We saw the Panto four times that year and enjoyed it so much each time.
It was great having Ceri to stay and I became very fond of him. He came again overnight when he performed his one man show in our local theatre and we have been to the Birmingham Hippodrome twice since then to see him perform. He is so talented and a really nice man.

One funny experience I had was when Georgina Leonidas came to stay. My grandmother introduced her to me, as she does all of our guests. I Immediately recognised Georgina as Katie Bell from the Harry Potter films. I was so star struck that I couldn’t even reply. Georgina was starring in a David Walliams’ stage adaptation of Awful Auntie, which I enjoyed very much. She was brilliant in the part and a lovely guest. She chatted to me about her life as an actress and answered all my questions about Harry Potter.

I also enjoy serious plays such as Agatha Christie’s A Murder Is Announced and Ruth Rendell’s Gallowglass. Jeremy Barnaby, stage manager of these productions, stayed with us along with Jog Maher one of the actors. We always enjoy seeing them.
There have been many others like the stars of Hairspray and Let it be. Paul Canning, who played John Lennon, really made fun of my grandmother which gave me a big laugh.
Daniel Bolton who was in Crazy For You also really impressed me. He was on stage throughout the entire show, playing guitar, banjo, percussion and dancing with his guitar on his back.
I always look forward to hosting performers and seeing the shows.
